ANCIENT BRISTLECONE PINE. There must be something sacred about trees that have survived for over 4000 years. These incredible trees are located high in the White Mountains, Inyo National Forest, California. Over time, high winds distort the Ancient Bristlecone Pine into contorted shapes making them all very unique. Sometimes they are more dead than alive but survive in an incredibly harsh environment at an altitude of over 10,000 feet. The most amazing part is that dead trees in this area have been dated back over 7000 years. This photograph was shot with a 4x5 view camera with 90mm lens on color negative film. I scanned the film and used Adobe Photoshop to adjust the final image.
