canyon de chelly

CANYON DE CHELLY - TSEGI OVERLOOK. Canyon de Chelly National Monument is located on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. The correct pronunciation is Canyon "da shay". It is a French interpretation of the Spanish translation from the Navajo word "Tséyi" which means "canyon". This area of the American Southwest has the oldest continuously inhabited sites in the United States. Canyon de Chelly contains hundreds of cliff dwellings and other archaeological sites dating back over 600 years. This photograph was shot with a 4x5 view camera with 90mm lens on color negative film. I scanned the film and used Adobe Photoshop to adjust the final image.
