FROST. The dictionary defines "frost" as a deposit of small white ice crystals formed on the ground or other surfaces when the temperature falls below freezing. The frost on these leaves and Redwood pine cones show how cold it gets along the Smith River in Redwoods National Park, California. This photograph was shot with a 4x5 view camera with 210mm lens on color negative film. I scanned the film and used Adobe Photoshop to adjust the final image.
