TORREY PINES SUNSET. Torrey Pines State Reserve is located near San Diego California. The Reserve was established in 1921 and named after John Torrey, a leading botanist at the time. The Torrey Pine is the rarest pine in the United States.
Torrey Pines State Reserve has dramatic sandstone cliffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean. Here the setting sun reflects off the ocean and backlights the sandstone formations. This photograph was shot with a 4x5 view camera with 210mm lens on color negative film. I scanned the film and used Adobe Photoshop to adjust the final image.
